About the job

Kwale County Government is hiring hairdressing and beauty therapy trainers for its vocational training centres: two Instructor III posts and three Instructor Assistant III posts. The trainers will teach salon theory and practice, assess trainees, care for equipment and supervise industrial attachment. Instructor III applicants need a diploma in the trade and a TVETA licence; assistant posts are at a lower entry grade.

Key responsibilities

Teach trainees the theory and practice of the trade at a vocational training centre
Prepare training records and carry out assessments
Care for tools and equipment
Lead co-curricular activities, discipline and counselling of trainees
Supervise field work and industrial attachment and write progress reports

Qualifications

Diploma or Level 6 qualification in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy or Cosmetology from a recognised awarding body
Licence from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA)
Previous experience as a trainer in a vocational training institution
Certificate in computer applications; teaching methods training is an advantage
Meets the integrity requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
