About the job

Kwale County Government is recruiting an instructor in automotive engineering (motor vehicle mechanics) for its vocational training centres. The instructor will teach trainees how vehicles work and how to service and repair them, assess their progress, maintain workshop tools and supervise attachments with local garages. Applicants need a diploma in the trade, a TVETA licence and experience as a trainer.

Key responsibilities

Teach trainees the theory and practice of the trade at a vocational training centre
Prepare training records and carry out assessments
Care for tools and equipment
Lead co-curricular activities, discipline and counselling of trainees
Supervise field work and industrial attachment and write progress reports

Qualifications

Diploma or Level 6 qualification in Automotive Engineering (Motor Vehicle Mechanics) from a recognised awarding body
Licence from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA)
Previous experience as a trainer in a vocational training institution
Certificate in computer applications; teaching methods training is an advantage
Meets the integrity requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
