About the job

USIU-Africa in Nairobi is recruiting a Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics, focused on teaching, learning and research. The DVC sets the university's academic direction, leads curriculum review, raises the quality of teaching and assessment, improves student retention and graduation and grows research and postgraduate programmes. The post also oversees online and hybrid learning, preparation for US and Kenyan accreditation, the academic calendar and examinations, and academic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

Set academic strategy and policy and implement Senate decisions
Lead curriculum review and teaching quality
Improve student retention and graduation
Lead research, postgraduate programmes and digital learning
Prepare for accreditation and manage the academic budget

Qualifications

PhD from a recognised university
At least Associate Professor rank
Over 13 years' experience, five in management and three at senior level
Record of teaching, scholarship and academic leadership
Membership of a relevant professional body
