About the job

Karatina University is hiring a Chief Security Officer at grade 12, reference KarU/HR/CSO/2026, to lead campus security. The officer writes security policies and emergency plans, reports to and advises the Vice Chancellor, supervises internal and outsourced guards and works with outside security agencies. A security-related degree and service in the disciplined forces are required.

Key responsibilities

Develop security policies and emergency plans
Report to and advise the Vice Chancellor on security
Supervise and train security staff
Coordinate with external security agencies
Draw up specifications for security contracts

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a security-related field; a master's is an advantage
At least five years in disciplined or uniformed forces with a clean discharge
Valid driving licence and current good conduct certificate
ICT knowledge and firefighting and rescue skills
