Tangaza University

Tangaza University is a Catholic university on Lang'ata South Road in Karen. It opened in August 1986 as a theological centre serving religious congregations, with its first twenty students drawn from the Consolata Fathers, the Salesians and the Holy Spirit Fathers. In 1992 it became a constituent college of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and on 2 May 2024 it received its own charter as a full university. Teaching is organised in schools of theology, arts and social sciences, education, and applied science and technology, alongside a TVET institute. Several institutes and centres sit within it, covering philosophy, interreligious dialogue, youth studies, leadership, communication and media, social transformation, English as a foreign language and safeguarding. It offers certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to both religious and lay students.
