The Kenya School of Law is the state institution that prepares law graduates for admission to the bar in Kenya. It admitted its first eleven students in 1963 on Valley Road, became a semi-autonomous government agency in 2001, and has operated under the Kenya School of Law Act of 2012 as a public provider of legal education. In January 2005 it moved to its main campus in Karen along Lang'ata South Road, and it also keeps a town campus on Moi Avenue in the city centre. Its best-known course is the Advocates Training Programme, which law graduates complete before admission as advocates. The school also trains paralegals, runs a certified secretaries course and offers continuing professional development, research and consultancy. The Karen campus has a lecture theatre, seminar rooms, a cafeteria and student hostels.
