Kayole 1 Primary School is one of the oldest and biggest government primary schools in Kayole, set back from Kangundo Road on the northern side of the estate. When the national school census was taken in the early 2010s it had more than 2,300 pupils, almost evenly split between boys and girls, which shows how much of the area depends on it. A public ECDE centre run by the county shares the grounds, so children can start in pre-primary and continue through the primary grades in one place. Teaching follows the Competency Based Curriculum, junior school classes have been added under the current system, and tuition is free under the government's basic education programme. The Nairobi county education office lists it in the Kayole zone.
