The Consolata Institute of Philosophy is a Catholic college run by the Consolata Missionaries in Nairobi, with its campus in Karen. Its roots are in the Consolata Seminary opened in Lang'ata around 1971, and the philosophy programme was established there in 1974, first as a two-year diploma in philosophy and religious studies. Over time it has grown to award degrees as well as diplomas, and it admits lay students as well as religious. Besides the institute, the Consolata community runs a language centre and a carpentry and metal workshop that are open to students. In May 2024 it held its 50th graduation, conferring 77 degrees and 9 diplomas, and it has stated an ambition to become a university.
