About

Dandora Green Light Vocational Training Centre is one of the vocational training centres run by Nairobi City County, built on land beside Dandora Primary School in Dandora Area I. Work on the centre began in 2016 and it was opened in February 2018 as a project of about KSh 180 million, put up with Korean partners to give jobless young people in Eastlands a trade. The centre is accredited by TVETA, and trainees sit KNEC craft and diploma papers or NITA Grade III, II and I trade tests, depending on the course. Main departments are ICT, food and beverage production and service, automotive engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, welding and fabrication, building technology, fashion design and garment making, and hairdressing and beauty therapy. Every learner also takes entrepreneurship, life skills, communication and computer units. Short courses of four to eight weeks cover web and graphic design, solar PV and domestic wiring, plumbing, tile laying, pastry and baking, and barbering. Entry is open to school leavers, including those with low KCSE grades, and the centre describes itself as friendly to learners with disabilities.
