Candy College of Beauty and Applied Sciences – Umoja Campus

Candy College of Beauty and Applied Sciences is a private technical and vocational college with its Nairobi campus in Umoja estate, Eastlands, and a second campus on Limuru Road in Ruaka, Kiambu County. It is registered and licensed by the TVET Authority (TVETA) as a technical and vocational college. Beauty is its main field: certificates and diplomas in hairdressing, beauty therapy and cosmetology, assessed through NITA trade tests. Over the years it has added other departments, so learners can also take fashion and design and interior design (TVET CDACC), tailoring and dressmaking, caregiving and homecare, health services support, nutrition and dietetics, hospitality, catering, baking and front office, ICT and computer packages, and counselling and community development (KNEC). Courses run from a few weeks for short packages to several terms for diplomas, and most are open to school leavers with modest grades. The college describes its teaching as practical and career-focused, with trainers guiding students towards employment or their own business, and it has classes on weekdays until late evening and on Saturdays.
